Job Role

✅ Working hours: 35-38 hours a week with your employer at a school

✅ Training: Receive FREE high-quality tuition and practical training with inspire+ 

✅ Support: Receive mentor support in your school and mentoring from an inspire+ tutor throughout the year.

✅ Contract: 18 months contract

 

Essential Criteria

Able to work independently and as part of a team

Able to use your own initiative and have a can-do attitude

Willing to learn and ask questions of our other team members

Infectious personality that can engage children in activities

Genuine interest in sport, physical education and physical activity and a desire to impact positively on children’s lives.

GCSE (or equivalent) Grade C/4 or above in English & Maths.

Desirable Qualifications

Level 2 National Governing Body Coaching Qualification

Level 3 Supporting the Delivery of PE and School Sport

Level 2 in First Aid and Safeguarding

What qualifications and benefits do apprentices receive whilst on programme?

Following recent apprenticeship reform, we believe any training given whilst learners are on programme should be employer led. After consultation with employers, apprentices will be offered a range of qualifications whilst on programme. Employers and learners will be able to select the most appropriate qualifications to them. These qualifications are not mandatory but will support complete the apprenticeship portfolio whilst on programme. Additional qualifications include:

There is also an opportunity for apprentices to access the Inspire+ CPD calendar which will be shared with schools during the induction process.

Level 4 apprentices will also receive a 2 year subscription to UK Coaching subscription which gives exclusive access to over 500 industry training materials, webinars, videos, professional templates, expert guides and evidence based coaching tips to support your personal coaching development.

Upon completion, Level 4 Sport Coach apprentices will also be able become a member of The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMPSA) https://www.cimspa.co.uk/

What will my main responsibilities be in school?

Around 80% of your time on programme will be spent with your employer. You will be assigned a mentor in school who will be responsible for timetabling your duties. These duties may vary from school to school. However, they are likely to include:

  • Supporting PE and Sport activities in school
  • Supporting ordinary classroom activities
  • Assisting with the running of before and / or after school clubs
  • Offering pastoral support for small groups or individuals
  • Gifted & Talented and / or low self-esteem mentoring support for pupils with SEN or disabilities
  • Working alongside other staff members to promote wellbeing
  • Lunch time supervision / clubs / activities
  • Competition management and assistance at events
  • Data reporting for PE and Sport
  • Developing programmes of study / lessons for classes and individuals
  • Organising and running sports events
Who pays me?

Your employer is responsible for paying you a salary / wage. The minimum rate for an apprenticeship will be £4.81 per hour as of April 2022.

Who are Inspire Education Group?

inspire+ deliver the programme in partnership with Inspire Education Group, this college group consists of a group of colleges and a University centre in Peterborough and Stamford. Applicants do not need to worry if they are not within commutable distance from the college. All training for the Level 4 apprenticeship range from face to face and online seminars/lectures, one-to-one sessions, tutor visits and coaching at the place of employment. Apprentices will also be encouraged to take part with the employers CPD programme and events to support the off the job learning.
