About

Who we are

inspire+ is a Grantham based sport and education charity.

inspire+ was founded in September 2011, by Vincent Brittain.  inspire+ is a totally unique charity, which receives no central Government funding or support.

Our vision is to ensure young people are ‘Healthy, Happy and Active’.  We achieve this by realising our aims of increasing young people’s physical activity and wellbeing through both the education and community setting.

As well as providing a comprehensive and valued programme of support for schools, the charity is also a leading PE and School Sport apprenticeship training provider.

We are proud of our work to date but strive to continually improve and grow our impact for the benefit of young people.

Who we are

inspire+ are a Grantham based Sport Charity, who serve Schools in South Kesteven and wider Lincolnshire.

inspire+ was started in September 2011, by Vincent Brittain. Before this Vincent was the Partnership Development Manager for the South West Lincs School Sport Partnership. It was at this time that the Government decided to cut funding for School Sport Partnerships and because of this, the partnerships chair of Young Ambassadors Debbie Foote, led a national petition to keep funding for school sport. As a result of the young people’s petition some money was retained but only for school competition, this would mean that the School Sport Partnership would still end. To carry on the sporting work in South Kesteven, Vincent secured backing from a local company and inspire+ was born! inspire+ Team

For the first year it was solely run by Vincent, in its second year 3 part-time staff were taken on and now to the present day with the charity hosting 12 members of staff and over 15 self-employed coaches.

inspire+ is a totally unique charity, who receive no Government funding and are recognised nationally as delivering the most comprehensive package to Primary Schools.

inspire+ aims to improve the lives for Young People through sport and healthy active lifestyles. We serve secondary schools through providing leadership training and opportunities for students who want to gain experience, skills & knowledge of sports coaching and also the organisation and running of sporting events. Through this programme we have had 3 students go on to sit on the National Young Ambassador Steering Group and receive National awards for their volunteering work.

Our main service is to Primary schools, for which we provide a comprehensive package including specialist sports coaching, teacher training, programmes for Gifted & Talented pupils and a mentoring programme to help those pupils who like sport but suffer with low confidence. We have five Ambassadors who make visits and regular communications to our schools and work with the children; these are Paralympian Sam Ruddock, Adventurer Sarah Outen MBE, 401 Marathon Runner Ben Smith, Paralympic Silver Medallist Jonathan Broom-Edwards and Olympic Swimmer Sophie Allen. Each academic year concludes in over 1000 primary school children taking part in their own Mini Olympics at the Grantham Meres Athletics Stadium, which is organised by the charities secondary school volunteers; the Young Ambassador Steering Group. We also hold Sports camps during school holidays to provide sporting provisions for youngsters to keep them active and engaged in new sports.

The charity has created a county wide resource called the Legacy Challenge which engages children and families to lead more active and healthier lifestyles. This National Award Winning product is backed by Lincolnshire County Council and therefore a free resource to Primary Schools across Lincolnshire with a KS1 and KS2 resource.

inspire+ was established in 2011 and rely on generating its own funding through school memberships, grants & awards, sponsorship and fund-raising opportunities. Every penny raised will be given back into our schools, through the continuation of our services and initiatives to benefit the lives of young people throughout South Kesteven. inspire+ aims to follow its sporting values of courage, determination and achieve in all its programmes to achieve its aim of working together for young people.

“Steph, you and Inspire+ have really inspired our whole Trust and the feedback I have had from so many staff is that it was a fabulous day and extremely valuable. Thank you BEPPA and BAPA leaders for taking this on with so much enthusiasm and effort. You are all making such a difference to our children’s lives!! It is extremely exciting and your professionalism and hard work is very much appreciated.

Steph, please can you pass in our sincere thanks to those from Inspire+ who supported this fantastic INSET day.”

Executive Head Teacher feedback on the impact inspire+ has had since starting work with 2 of her schools.

Just a short note to thank you for the excellent address that Sam gave to our students at the Presentation Evening last night. We enjoyed the words of advice that he gave and the warm and personal manner in which he delivered the description of his inspirational journey. We were particularly impressed with how generous he was with his time when interacting with the students and their families after the awards.

“I just wanted to say a massive thanks to you and your team for the help with our training day. The staff loved it and found it extremely beneficial and the vast majority of that was down to Inspire+ and team.”

Primary School feedback from inspire+ delivering a PE focused staff inset training day

I just wanted to thank you for providing such a great holiday club. The set up and staff have again been wonderful. Matthew has thoroughly enjoyed this last week and always wanted to come. It was also lovely to hear that those that met Matthew last year have seen a difference in his behaviour since we have now got a better control of his ADHD.

“Can you pass on a big thank you for today’s assembly by Jonathan Broom-Edwards. The kids loved seeing the other classes and having the challenges. Just wanted to say thank you to you and Lizzie for the assembly. The children really enjoyed it – nice that they can still experience these. :)”

“I think it’s great that you’re doing this virtually … there is so little to keep children motivated at the moment but she’s really looking forward to the next session.”

“I also wanted to add how brilliant and inspiring Kane has been with the Playground Leaders. We have really enjoyed having him in school and he connects with the children so very well.”

Primary school feedback on one of our specialist coaches

Can I just say how brilliant Sarah Outen was for her assembly – The children were glued to her – it was the first time our EYFS came into our assembly as well and they just sat through it all without no talking. Her presentation – tone of voice just had everyone listening so thank you – Even our staff was chatting away about how good she was!

“I wanted to let you know that the feedback to the sessions has been great. I have been particularly blown away by Sam Berry’s ability to ‘lead’ a group and inspire and motivate. He was by far the ‘star of the show’ yesterday when the Playground Leaders from Year 4 planned a warm up session prior to our PE lesson. The previous week, they co ordinated the dodgeball session from their training, with the grid markers and fitness stations for those ‘out’. It went really well!”

Primary school feedback on PLT

“Just wanted to let you know that all my staff are buzzing about the assembly this morning.  So excited to have you and the team inspiring my lovely staff and pupils.  Wouldn’t want to be without you all.”
