inspire+ apprentice named Greater Lincolnshire Education Apprentice of the Year
Huge congratulations to inspire+ apprentice Emmie Lowthian, who has been named Greater Lincolnshire Education Apprentice of the Year.
Emmie is currently completing a Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship at Kelsey Primary School. Her award recognises not only her dedication and professionalism, but the real difference she is making within her school and wider community.
A strong foundation and rapid development
Before beginning her apprenticeship, Emmie had already gained valuable experience working with children as a young leader at her local primary school, supporting after-school clubs. She also developed her skills further through her work with Grimsby Gymnastics Twist and Flip.
Since starting her apprenticeship, Emmie has made significant progress, quickly demonstrating a strong understanding of the classroom environment and the expectations of her training. She has consistently applied herself to her coursework, completing assignments to a high standard and within required timeframes, while maintaining effective communication with her mentor.
Making a real difference in the classroom
In school, Emmie has established herself as a highly professional and proactive member of staff. She shows initiative in continuing to develop her skills and practice, while always focusing on the needs of the pupils she supports.
Her impact is particularly evident in her work supporting a pupil transitioning into the Early Years setting.
Creating opportunities beyond the classroom
Emmie’s contribution extends far beyond her classroom role. She has worked across the school to increase participation in daily activities, helping more children to engage in physical activity.
She has been trained to lead playground leader sessions, which are now running successfully at lunchtimes, and has organised and delivered a number of after-school sports clubs. These initiatives have helped encourage greater participation and promote an active lifestyle across the school.
Emmie continues to take initiative in developing new ideas to increase engagement, showing a clear commitment to improving the experience of pupils both in and outside the classroom.
A well-deserved recognition
Emmie’s approach has been recognised not only through her award, but also through the words of those she works alongside.
Her nominator, Senior Teacher Faye Thompson, highlighted Emmie’s compassion, professionalism and the significant role she has played in supporting pupils and families:
Emmie demonstrates remarkable selflessness and dedication in supporting a young pupil and their family through both emotional and medical challenges. Her ability to liaise professionally with staff and families ensured a safe and supportive transition into school. Emmie’s dedication, initiative and compassion make her an outstanding candidate for this award.
